Wastewater treatment is often one of the highest costs associated within the tannery industry.

The large volumes of water used in the washing, cleaning, processing and tanning of hides leads to several flow streams from areas such as the lime yards and dye houses.

After screening, pH correction and primary treatment (to remove solids), the highly laden water is often then treated by aeration. After membrane filtration using MBR technology, the cleaned water can be recycled for reuse or disposed of to sewer or water course.
